Since the production of the first bottle of BALIS, it has been important to us to preserve our environment and nature. We produce BALIS exclusively at resource-saving and climate-neutral bottling plants, have participated in the returnable deposit system since the beginning, work with regional partners on all aspects of the product and optimize delivery routes. We keep our ingredients as natural as possible and of course use biodegradable packaging at trade fairs and events.
In addition, since 2021 we can proudly say that every product from BALIS is climate-neutral! All CO2 emissions that arise during regional production are compensated for all varieties and all sales sizes.
And that's not all: BALIS lives up to its pioneering role here too, so it's not enough for us that our products are "just climate-neutral". We want to give something back to our planet!
BALIS is therefore not only MORE than lemonade, but also MORE than climate neutral. We want to be climate positive. It doesn't matter whether it's a bottle or a can - with every BALIS, not only are the emissions generated (0.2-0.4kg CO2 per bottle or can) offset, but we round up the offset and compensate double the amount of our own CO2 footprint!
This makes the enjoyment of BALIS even more unique, because in addition to the taste experience, something good is also done for the environment and nature.
In order to determine the resulting CO2 emissions of our products, we are accompanied by the expert team from NatureOffice. Together we calculated the individual "Product Carbon Footprint" (i.e. the CO2 footprint) for each variety and each container. This value includes all CO2 emissions that occur along the product life cycle of each bottle of BALIS. This includes per bottle: all raw materials, as well as their processing, transport routes and energy used during filling, subsequent delivery and return or recycling in the one-way and reusable system.
NatureOffice helps us to balance this calculated footprint by supporting selected projects in the areas of climate protection and sustainability. All projects that we support with our compensation meet the highest standards of transparency and social structural development. The CO2 compensation takes place, for example, through the reforestation of natural forests, environmentally friendly energy production (water, wind power, etc.), sustainable agriculture and forestry and much more. You can find out more about this below under our projects and at www.natureoffice.com.
With our commitment, we not only want to do something good for the planet and people, but also to point out and address particularly explosive issues. That's why we also follow a regional and international approach in our projects - because there is a lot to do, here and also in more distant regions! Let's start something good together! Just now.
As a Munich-based company, we have a special bond with the mountain landscape and nature in the Alps. In the Alps project area, the main concern is to maintain the natural balance in Alpine regions. The main focus is on the establishment of mixed mountain forest by rotten planting on storm and bark beetle bare areas, on the particularly important protection forest rehabilitation. Forest areas are essential in the mountains to keep the delicate alpine ecosystem in balance and to protect it from erosion and avalanches. To counteract this, we are happy to get involved in forest ecology projects in the foothills of the Alps - so that the mountains on our doorstep remain as beautiful as we know them.
In addition to regional environmental protection, it is just as important to us to support international projects in developing and emerging countries. Because climate change is hitting people and the environment particularly hard here, and we can make a difference here with simple measures!
With our compensation in the area of natural forest reforestation, we help the TOGO project, in addition to the activities in climate protection, among other things, plants for energy production and water supply, infrastructure for health and education, projects for sustainable agriculture and forestry as well as self-sufficiency and market production in the realize local environment. The project is strongly oriented towards the possibilities on site, the needs of the people in Togo and the potential of the living space there and thus effectively starts exactly where a lot can be achieved.
